The House of Dreams
At Trufflepig we are firm believers in top-notch service. We’re a little bit addicted to it, in fact—we’ll admit it. What always leaves us raving about a trip is inevitably the hospitality; meeting a local guide who showed us things we never could have discovered on our own, or, in the case of Maisons des Rêves, finding a hotel group that brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “they thought of everything”.
This is why we were so excited to hear about a brand new pop-up accommodation from the “Houses of Dreams”, coming to Paraty, Brazil from March 28th until July 20th, 2014. Brazil is already in the travel spotlight with the World Cup and Olympic Summer Games on the horizon, and Paraty has long been one of our favourite destinations in South America’s caipirinha central. Add to that a beautiful private collector’s home in the heart of the colonial town, and you’re off to a very good start. Include traditional Brazilian cuisine, excursions on a day boat, and a private guide to the area, and all your rêves may just come true.
Maisons des Rêves is the company behind Dar Ahlam, one of our favourite (and most written about) hotels out there. A kasbah built entirely out of mud, Dar Ahlam is known for never serving guests a meal in the same location, not to mention creating incredible sleep-out experiences in the middle of the Moroccan desert. We’re confident that its Brazilian cousin will have some comparable tricks up its sunny sleeve. If you’re a sucker for service like us, get in touch soon. Dreams like this don’t last forever.
Amy once spent a three day monsoon in Paraty. It was more nightmare than dream, and if she could do it over again, it would be most definitely be Maison des Rêves style.
