On My Plate: PEI
There are lots of good reasons to visit Prince Edward Island off Canada’s eastern coast. Red sand beaches, scenic golf courses, Anne of Green Gables re-enactments. But the best reason to go is to eat your weight in seafood.
Where: Carr’s Oyster Bar & Restaurant in the hamlet of Stanley Bridge, PEI
What: Malpeque oysters by the dozen. Plucked from the bay just a few feet away, many consider these the cream of the oyster crop (exercising my editorial subjectivity there). Notwithstanding some crushed ice, a couple lemon wedges and a spot of tangy sauce, there’s need for nothing else on this plate.
Charlie Scott married a Prince Edward Islander to score himself a home away from home on the isle of oysters.
