Secret Supper
Years ago, my wife and I were coaxed into trying our first supper club. We were told it was well worth the money, and to show up at an old loft building at a certain time to get in. Bring wine. Italian wine. If you bring anything other, you will be ridiculed. Well then.
We walked in, Barolo and Prosecco in hand, and were introduced to about thirty of our new found friends. Culinary history was made. Four years on, we now consider ourselves regulars, and thoroughly enjoy everyone one of the dinners, leaving stuffed and and happy as pigs in… Italy.
Who is behind this masterpiece? His name is Massimo Bruno, and he is my hero. Jovial, welcoming, and a downright wonderful host, Massimo makes you feel like you are joining him at his home, regaling you with stories of his childhood, his home (Puglia), and introducing you to Italian foods both common and obscure. It’s safe to say we love it.
If you ever want to join us for a dinner, you can check out Massimo’s website here.
Above are a few photos from our last dinner, which was our first time dining at his “al fresco” location, in the garden of a beautiful mansion north of the city; you can’t get much closer to dining in Puglia without a flight ticket. Go taste for yourself.
Mike loves all of Europe’s finest offerings, but they’re especially sweet when they can be found right in his home city.
