A New York Minute

We’ve never attempted to hide our love for New York, and it’s arguably at its height during the summer months. Outdoor events abound, patios are swarmed, and parks filled with life. The choices of things to see and do are endless, and so many options can get a little overwhelming.

What (and where) are New York’s must dos this summer? We asked our good friend from The Standard High Line hotel, Michel Heredia, for his favourite tips of the season.

For culture vultures:

Yayoi Kusama
After 40 years in a (self-imposed) mental-hospital exile, ahead-of-her-time Japanese rabble-rouser Yayoi Kusama is making trouble again with an amazing exhibition at the Whitney Museum and a wonderful collaboration with Louis Vuitton.

Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations
The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Spring 2012 Costume Institute exhibition is one of the most anticipated in town.

For the food obsessed:

Indisputably one of the hippest downtown eateries. I recommend the sunchokes, which are wreathed in creamy foam laced with winter truffles and Gruyère cheese.

The Standard Plaza (The Standard’s new summer restaurant)
Our guest chef, Seamus Mullen, will cook an array of casual, summery dishes, often with the Spanish touches for which he has become known.

Michel Heredia works at The Standard High Line NYC in New York’s meatpacking district, a hotel we love as much for it’s bold High Line straddling architecture, as its cultured cool vibe.

Our favourite tips of the season.
