Just the Details: Venice

We’ve said it many times, but it bears repeating: the best part about seeing Venice is getting lost. And the best part about getting lost in Venice is that it’s incredibly easy to do. Armed with a paper map, smart phone with GPS, and a helpful husband, I still managed to get lost no less than three times in two hours on my last trip to the City of Bridges. It’s inevitable, and it’s wonderful.

Around every corner, over every bridge, at the end of every dead end, there is a new discovery. For a photographer like myself, this means some new detail to obsess over. I can easily take dozens of photos of shutters, or of doorknockers, or of a lonely chair sitting in an alley.

Next time you’re in Venice, grab your camera, ditch the map, and get lost in the details.
