‘Nam with the Fam
When you think about Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, most think about temples, food, monks, more food and the hustle and bustle that the region is famous for. Long a favourite of honeymooners, retired couples and backpackers (I’m guilty of this one myself), it attracts a really diverse crowd. What some don’t realize however is that it is also a fantastic destination for families. For years, we have been planning some fantastic family journeys here, with spectacular results. It’s safe, easy to get around, and value for money makes travelling as a family unit affordable but still luxurious. Imagine a private villa with its own pool, where your kids can run rampant without disturbing the neighbours, or playing some football (some call it soccer) with local novice monks. Where else can you give your kids some cherished lifetime memories like that? A few other great activities on an Indochina family trip could include:
• A private martial arts display at a local school
• Touring Saigon on the back of a vintage Vespa (totally safe!)
• Rubbing elbows with navy officers at their local club in Bangkok over lunch
• Getting your hands dirty and learning traditional farming methods
• Travelling with a private guide, who is focusing your activities specifically on your kids’ interests
• Building and then flying a traditional Vietnamese kite
• Trying your hand at cooking local foods
• Exploring the overgrown temples of Angkor Wat
• Learning how to care for elephants, and then, of course, riding them
• Getting a fish massage on the streets of Siem Reap (look it up, kids love it)
So, if you like what you see, give us a call and we can set up a trip for you. We guarantee they will put down the iPad for this one.
